Know what TikTok does not allow
TikTok’s Community Guidelines (external site) restrict nudity, sexual content and sexual solicitation, and limit how widely some suggestive content is shown. Directing people to adult platforms can also count against you. Rules and enforcement change often, so read them before you plan content. What works on TikTok
- Personality first: stories, humour, opinions and day-in-the-life clips.
- A clear niche people can recognise in the first second of a video.
- Trends adapted to your niche, rather than copied.
- A steady rhythm you can sustain, rather than bursts.
Bios, links and moving people on
Keep your TikTok profile clean and neutral. Many creators move interested viewers to another platform first, such as Instagram, and send traffic from there to a link page. Our Instagram guide covers that step. [VERIFY: current TikTok rules on bio links]
Protect the account
- Never buy followers or use engagement groups.
- Keep your creator account separate from your personal one.
- Keep a backup account and another channel you control, so one ban does not end your growth.
